About the Product

Full Description

Sicam Tablet (Capsicum, or its primary active extract Capsaicin), is a widely used generic medicine and herbal supplement. It acts as a topical analgesic, providing localized pain relief for arthritis, muscle sprains, and nerve pain. It works by desensitizing pain receptors in the skin.

Benefits of Sicam Tablet

  • Pain Relief: Desensitizes pain-transmitting nerves (depletes Substance P) to block chronic pain signals.
  • Metabolic Support: Orally, it is sometimes used to stimulate digestion, reduce appetite, and assist with metabolic syndrome.
  • Anti-inflammatory: Helps reduce minor joint and muscle inflammation.

Ingredients of Sicam Tablet

The main active constituent is Capsaicin, a phytochemical found naturally in chili peppers (genus Capsicum). Depending on the medication, it is combined with inactive excipients like benzyl alcohol, cetyl alcohol, stearic acid, and purified water to form creams, gels, or patches.

Indications of Sicam Tablet

  • Neuralgia: Nerve pain, including postherpetic neuralgia (shingles pain) and diabetic neuropathy.
  • Arthritis: Temporary relief of osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.
  • Musculoskeletal Pain: Minor aches, sprains, muscle strains, and simple backaches.
  • Other Uses: Sometimes used off-label to treat nasal symptoms (hay fever) or specific itching conditions like prurigo nodularis.

How to Use Sicam Tablet (Topical Application)

  • Apply a thin film of the cream or gel directly to the clean, dry, and unbroken skin of the affected area. Gently massage it in until it is fully absorbed.
  • Post-Application Care: Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water immediately after application, unless you are treating the hands.
  • Precautions: Do not apply to open wounds, damaged or irritated skin, or near the eyes, mouth, or sensitive areas. Avoid hot showers or baths right before or after application, as this intensifies the burning sensation.

Doses of Sicam Tablet

For topical creams or gels, concentrations generally range between 0.025% and 0.1% capsaicin. It is typically applied to the affected area multiple times daily, with full analgesic effects often requiring regular, daily use over several weeks.

Side Effects of Sicam Tablet

  • Common: A transient, local burning, stinging, or tingling sensation at the application site. This is common and usually subsides after several days of continuous use.
  • Skin Reactions: Redness, itching, or minor dryness.
  • Severe Irritation: If severe burning, blisters, coughing, or breathing difficulties occur, discontinue use immediately and seek medical attention.

Always consult official drug references or a healthcare professional for specific instructions regarding your exact product and condition.
