About the Product

Full Description

Corn caps (also called corn plasters) are medicated, adhesive bandages designed to relieve pain and remove hardened skin (corns and calluses) on your feet and toes. They provide an at-home solution by softening dead skin so it can be safely exfoliated.

Benefits of Corn caps

  • Pain Relief: Features a soft cushion ring that relieves pain by taking pressure and friction off the affected area when you walk.
  • Softens Thick Skin: Slowly breaks down the hard, compacted skin layers.
  • Easier Removal: Makes the corn easier to peel or rub away after a few days.
  • Discreet: Fits easily and comfortably into most everyday footwear.

Ingredients of Corn caps

  • Salicylic Acid: The primary active ingredient (usually between 10% to 40% strength). It is a keratolytic agent that dissolves keratin (the protein that makes up the hard corn).
  • Adhesive Pad & Plaster: A soft felt or foam ring that acts as a physical buffer against shoes.
  • Natural/Ayurvedic Extracts: Many caps (such as Amrutanjan or Hansaplast) also contain traditional ingredients like camphor, menthol, or gandhabiroja for a soothing, cooling effect.

Indications of Corn caps

Corn caps are used specifically for:

  • Hard or soft corns (small, cone-shaped bumps of thickened skin).
  • Calluses (larger, flat patches of rough skin, often on the soles of feet).

How to Use Corn caps

For best results, always check the specific product packaging, but generally, follow these steps:

  • Prep: Soak your foot in warm, soapy water for about 10 minutes to soften the area, then dry the foot completely.
  • Apply: Remove the corn cap from the backing and place the medicated center directly over the corn.
  • Secure: Press the adhesive straps firmly down so the cap does not slip.
  • Wait: Leave the cap on for 24 to 48 hours (or as directed on your package).
  • Remove/Repeat: After 2 days, take off the plaster. Soak your feet in warm water again and gently rub away the softened skin using a pumice stone. Reapply a new cap every 2 days until the corn is gone.

Side Effects & Precautions of Corn caps

While safe for most healthy adults, corn caps can cause a few issues if misused: Skin Irritation: The acid can cause mild soreness, redness, itching, or a mild burning sensation on the healthy skin surrounding the corn.

  • Skin Damage: Leaving the cap on too long or using it incorrectly can over-soften the skin and lead to open wounds or minor chemical burns.
  • Allergic Reactions: Rare cases of rashes or severe swelling.

Crucial Warnings:

  • Do NOT use on broken, inflamed, or infected skin.
  • Consult your doctor first if you have diabetes, poor circulation, or nerve damage in your feet, as the acid can cause slow-healing ulcers.
  • Allergies: Some formulations (like Carnation) contain peanut oil, so individuals with peanut or soy allergies should avoid them.
  • Keep out of reach of children.
